The BrightSparks charity’s Smoothie Sound System music project is successfully providing unique opportunities to the most vulnerable and isolated mental health service users in Leicester, including young men from BAME communities, and the funding will be used to expand this service.
The project provides performance, sound production and DJing opportunities to directly respond to the need to provide therapeutic activities to vulnerable and difficult to engage groups.
It is recognised as a successful project which offers a unique referral opportunity to mental health professionals who work with those who may be unable to access other services because of difficult behaviours and risk histories.
The funding will expand the project to inpatients at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, Herschel Prins Centre and other mental health venues.
